Q. How much do you charge?
A. When considering charges what one really needs to consider is value for money. This is a client focussed consultancy which enables the production of the very best possible CV for you. It represents extremely good value for money and is certainly comparable with any other premium service.
Full information is available on our charges page.

Q. How long with it take to write my CV?
A. Just as all people are different, so all CVs are different. The average CV is taking around four hours. However, depending upon your level and the complexity of the work, CV writing can take anything from 2½ hours up to five hours or more.

Q. Why are your charges higher than some other services?
A. Because we are offering a different level of service. This is a true consultancy which offers you a one-to-one personal CV writing service which is at least equal to any premium service available elsewhere.

Q. Why are your charges lower than some other sites?
A. The level of service we offer is comparable with any other premium service. We keep our overheads low and pass on the benefit of this to our clients. All the money you are paying goes straight into the value of the CV writing service. We do not employ any sub-contractors so there are no ‘middle men’ to pay.

Q. How can I justify the expense?
A. The modern job market is extremely competitive and you owe it to yourself to have the best CV you possibly can. The amount of the investment in a professionally written CV is extremely small when compared to the benefits you can gain from it.

Q. What payment methods can I use?
A. We accept all major credit and debit cards, or if you prefer you can send a cheque or arrange for a bank transfer. In the case of cheques it will be necessary to await clearance before work can commence.

Q. Why don’t you have standard charges for different ‘levels’ of CV?
A. Because we like to work in the way that best suits our clients. Charging by the hour enables us to be flexible and devote as much time as is required for each individual client. Naturally in the earlier stages of one’s career there will be less experience to include so the CV writing will take less time and therefore it will automatically cost less.

Q. Why isn’t your pricing based on the number of pages?
A. Because with CV writing ‘less is more’. The skill which we can offer is in expressing complex information in a short, easy to understand format. Our clients are frequently surprised when we produce a much shorter CV which actually contains much more information than their old one.

Q. Why do I need a Professionally written CV?
A. A professionally written CV prepared by The CV Consultancy will be an effective marketing document for use in a very competitive field. It will be written in a format which will be pleasing to the eye and will impart information in a very clear and concise way. This type of CV is extremely well received by employers because it makes their job so much easier, so naturally it gets you off to a flying start in your job hunt.

Q. Why should I use the CV Consultancy?

Q. Why shouldn’t I write my own CV?
A. The main problem is that it is extremely difficult to be objective about oneself. It will also surprise you how long it takes! Q. Do you give free advice on writing your own CV?

A. A good CV as written by the CV Consultancy will be clear and concise and enable the reader to gain a good understanding of what you have to offer. It will demonstrate your transferable skills and competencies in such a way that it is easy to extract the maximum information with the minimum effort on the part of the reader.

Q. What makes a bad CV?
A. There are many things that make CVs bad but the one thing that stands our above all others is too much detail. It is very easy to be tempted to produce a CV where you ‘can’t see the wood for the trees’. The other things to be avoided at all costs are gimmicky layouts and jargon.

Q. Can you help with advice on to go about using my CV to get a job?
A. There are a number of different approaches you can try when job hunting. Many Web based resources arededicated to job hunters. You can check for advertisements in the National Press and on the Internet. Almost all large companies will have Websites and will include details of any job vacancies within their organisation. Or you can try the speculative approach, by distributing your CV with a covering letter enquiring politely whether the organisation has any suitable vacancies.

Q. What different types of CV services are available?
A. There are a number of different types of CV writing service available but the CV Consultancy is unique. We offer a full consultancy service and the opportunity to work with a known professional throughout the CV writing process. You will have every opportunity for input and feedback so that you need never feel that you have lost control of what is, after all, your CV.

Q. What questions should I ask a CV writing service?
A. Ask what you really need to know.
Ask what opportunities you will be given to add input during the CV writing process.
Ask if they include a one-to-one conference.
Ask what opportunities you will be given for feedback?
A single conference of a set period is not satisfactory. You need to have the opportunity for your own input throughout the CV writing process otherwise you may feel that you have lost control of the situation. When the CV is complete, you need the opportunity for feedback and alterations based upon your expert knowledge and personal preferences. Only the CV Consultancy offers this level of service at an affordable price.

Q. Does the price include a conference?
A. Better than that – it includes the opportunity to work with Gwyneth throughout the CV writing process. A single conference up-front is not enough for the CV writer to build an in-depth knowledge of you and your career. Other questions are bound to come up as the CV writing takes shape. We will give you the opportunity for your input and feedback throughout the CV writing process.

Q. What opportunities will I be given for feedback?
A. Every opportunity. You will be consulted throughout the CV writing process and at the end you will be given time to consider the final draft of the CV and request any further consultation or alterations as you may require.

Q. How have CVs changed over the years?
A. The modern CV has become much more objective than it was in the past. In today’s very competitive jobs market your CV should represent an effective marketing tool. It needs to be pitched to an appropriate level and to identify the transferable skills that you can offer to a prospective employer.

Q. How can the CV Consultancy help me?
